Friday favorites: everything pink

Good morning my friends and welcome on the blog! How is your week going? I am very happy with mine because my daughter Aurora celebrated her birthday on Wednesday, she was so happy! She started counting the days one week before and every day she got more excited. On the day of her birthday I surprised her by putting out a couple banners and some presents on the table, she was so happy and excited. We had pancakes for breakfast (her request) and she opened all of the presents. I got to pick her up earlier from school because it was an early release day, then we went with my parents to have lunch in her favorite place and in the evening after dinner we had a cake, she asked me for a chocolate cake with M&M`s and pink candles! She sang herself the birthday song all day and this morning she asked me if it could be her birthday again… so sweet!

This week has also been special to me because it felt like the beginning of the new year (I am a little late, I do not know why…): I reorganized one of the bathrooms, part of Aurora `s bedroom, but most important, I finally ordered some new furniture for my home office, I am very excited that the time has finally come, right now I had just a desk and two chairs (one of them was used as a place to put the printer!). But as I already told you we moved from a small house to a much bigger one, so we did not have enough furniture for every room in the new house. But I like it, I like to take the time and decide what to put in every room and how to style it, the only downside is that I feel that the house is a constant work in progress!

Today I want to talk to you about some things that I loved this week and in the previous ones and I am also very excited because they are all pink, who else likes pink as much as I do (a part from Aurora)? Let me know!!

My kids` lunchboxes

Hey friends, good morning and happy Tuesday!

For those of you who live in New England, how did you do with the snowstorm and the freezing cold? I hope you didn`t lose electricity. Are you happy that the kids are finally in school and hopefully for the whole week? We actually did surprisingly good on the snow storm days, we played a lot in the basement and we also went outside with nonno Ezio on the day after the storm, it was freezing, but the kids loved it: they rolled down a mountain of snow we have in our yard, we went on the sled and ran with Platone. I don`t know if I already told you, but the snow has a strange effect on our dog Platone (he is a big, very handsome, 9 year old German Shepherd mix) he gets crazy, he runs everywhere, he wants to play nonstop, he rolls in the snow and sticks his face in it to eat it, just craziness (he is adorable!). The less fun part was when we got inside and I found out that Alessandro was all wet, I don`t know how, but the snow got into his pants and boots and he was shivering like crazy. Luckily he felt much better after a warm bath.

Friday favorites after the holidays

Hi everyone and happy Friday!

If you live close to Boston you are probably dealing with all the snow from yesterday`s snowstorm. I have mixed feelings about snow, I love it, I always did: my favorite part is the `sound` of the snow falling, I love to go outside, especially in the evening when it is dark, and listen to it when everything is still around, because everyone is trying to keep warm inside (I have to admit, yesterday with the excuse of playing with Platone, I lied in it and I enjoyed it!!). I also like to wake up and see all the white covering everything outside, knowing that we don`t have to go anywhere and that we can cozy up in our house! On the other hand as I already mentioned, my husband travels a lot and I had to shovel a lot of snow in the past (we will see what happens this year, but I am a supermom so I should be ok, right?) which is not my favorite part. I usually try to find the fun part in that, last year I bundled up all the kids and we went outside to clean our driveway, actually I was cleaning and they were playing and rolling in the snow! The other thing I love about snow is that in our old neighborhood we all met outside shoveling and it was kind of fun because as soon as someone finished his driveway, he or she would help the neighbors!

Back to our post, today I wanted to list some of my favorites of this week, I still feel the holiday spirit, so you will still see some red (actually red is one of my favorite colors, so you will always see a lot of it!).

5 kid-friendly Winter activities around Boston

Good morning my friends and happy new year!

How did you spend your holidays, did you have fun? We did, we played a lot, cooked and ate a lot and slept a lot. I know, it sounds impossible with three kids, but I think that by some Christmas miracle we were able to sleep late almost every morning… shocking! The boys would wake up at 6.00-6.30 am, but then they would come to our bedroom and sleep with us until at least 8.30! I have to say that I loved to snuggle with them and watch their cute faces when they were asleep, but I am afraid that they got into the habit of coming into our bed, so this morning Leonardo came to our bedroom at 4.30 am and did not want to sleep in his bed (he woke up his brother too). Now I am actually glad that with the beginning of school the kids will go back to their daily routine and I am sure that we will soon be back to our normal life!

Since the weather is getting so cold these days, today I want to talk to you about things to do around Boston with kids. I tend to take my kids out and do some short trips during weekends and holidays because I get bored (it is more me than the kids!) if I stay for too long inside the house!

My Christmas

Good morning my friends, how are you? How did you spend the holidays?

I have to apologize for not writing any post this past week, but I have been so busy with the kids playing, celebrating, resting, prepping, relaxing and going around! I don`t know about you, but the days around Christmas when the kids are home are crazy, I am happy to be able spend some quality time with them but at the same time it is so hard, my patience is tested every day! The kids don`t have a routine and some of the rules are broken these days: they eat at different times every day and they get pickier than usual, I agree to let them eat junk food and then I feel guilty when I see them with French fries in their mouths!! They are all excited because they know that something is going to happen and because they get to spend so much time at home, they watch a lot of tv and they fight a lot, so one of the most important thing for me to do is to organize some outdoor activities to try not to get insane!

Friday favorites: Christmas edition

Good morning friends and happy Friday!

This past week has been busy, the days seem to go faster than usual between work, errands to run, last things to get ready, wrapping presents (I just started, this year I am not very organized, I dont know what happened!) and cooking, it looks like I do a couple things and the day is already over! The kids are getting very excited, Aurora had the gingerbread house decoration at her school where parents could go, she begged me to go and when she saw me that morning she was so happy! She also had the ugly sweater day and pajama day at her school, such cute ideas! Everything is new for her and also for me because these are traditions that don`t exist in Italy. Aurora is getting very anxious and is asking me every day how many days until Christmas she has to count. At least it is a good exercise on counting and on naming the days, but I am afraid she is getting too stressed. I think that right now she is just very excited! The boys are very happy too, they had Santa at their school this week, Alessandro sat on his lap and talked extensively to him about his life! Leonardo was more shy and didn`t want to get close to him! They are so funny and have such different personalities, which is something that always amazes me. Although they are twins and were born almost exactly at the same time, they are so different and their personalities were very clear from the moment they were born. Nonna and nonno are here and the kids are so happy, they keep asking them things and trying to get their attention.

Holiday outfit ideas

Hello my friends and welcome to a new week that will take us to Christmas, are you excited? I am and I also feel like I still have a thousand things to do and not much time to accomplish them! I actually started shopping for Christmas early this year, but I still have to buy some presents!  I am trying not to stress out though and I do that by writing lists and lists of things to do, I even thought about making a list of the lists that i had to write (this is how crazy I am!). But the fact of writing down things and cancelling them once they are done gives me the idea that I accomplished something and makes my mind more clear about what I have to do and what I already did, can you relate?
