Hey friends, good morning and happy Friday! How did your week go? Ours was pretty tough. It was supposed to be a busy, fun week with a concert and an event in Boston for me and my husband, but instead I didn`t feel very well and Leonardo got croup, which is lasting a looong time, so we didn`t do much. I feel like June didn`t start as I expected, but hopefully we will all get better soon!
Today I wanted to talk a little about home decor and show you my favorite of the last period. I am not an expert, but I like decorating my house and changing it every now and then, so I take a lot of inspiration from Instagram and Pinterest.
Lately I have been focusing a little more on my house because I have to admit that we have been in our new house for a little over a year and it is still pretty empty in terms of home decor (and furniture, but we will think about it later!!). So I decided to start decorating it little by little, one or two rooms at a time and I have to say that I found some very nice pieces. My main inspirations are Instagram and Pinterest and I found out that I love the farm style décor, so I am incorporating a little of that. This post will be about some interesting items that I found for my home and that I loved.
WOVEN OUTDOOR RUG (TARGET, $ 49.90):
I saw this carpet online and I wasn`t convinced at first. Then I saw some pictures of how it was styled on a porch with two rocking chairs on top and I thought it would look very pretty on our front porch, where we already had two rocking chairs from last Summer. I love it, it looks very nice and adds an extra cozy feeling to the outside of the house. Last weekend we cleaned the porch and deck, to have them nice and ready for summer and now it looks even better (I am considering buying a second one for the deck, where we have two adirondack chairs).
I also saw these pillows that I really liked for the rocking chairs but I think that they are too big for them and I am not sure that I want to add black, since we already have red, beige and white outside, so I opted for two striped pillows in red and white on the rocking chairs (which are red). I am thinking right now that the adirondack chairs on the deck are white and these pillows would look great on them… so I might get them and see if I like them!
HOUSE LANTERNS (TARGET, FROM $ 19.99, TO $ 32.99):
I got these last Winter because I liked the idea of putting some string lights inside to create a Christmas atmosphere. They are from Target, from the Hearth and hand line (which I love!) and they come in three different sizes, which is useful, so you can adapt them to your space. I love these lanterns and now that I am decorating the outside of my house, I am thinking about putting them near the chairs on the deck…I will have to consult Pinterest!!
WOODEN TRAY (WORLD MARKET, $ 19.99)
I found this very nice wooden tray at World market and I decided to place it in our living room on a console. I put some vintage books, a faux plant and a small candle inside and I like a lot the look that I created!
PLAID PILLOW (TJ MAXX, $ 19.99):
Well, if you didn`t understand it by know, I have to admit that I am a little obsessed with check prints, especially in Summer, I just love them! I found this beige and white pillow at Home goods, unfortunately there was just one, but I am on a mission to find a second identical one, because this looks so good on our cream colored sofa and it is perfect for this season because it adds a clean, crisp touch.
SQUARE MILK GLASS VASE (TARGET $ 5.99):
This was very surprising for me, but I saw an Instagrammer decorating her house using vintage and new small bottles and I immediately loved the idea. I like how bottles in different sizes and colors work well together and add a nice touch, especially on my fireplace mantel, where I decided to place them. I found these bottles in the picture at Target, from the Hearth and Hand line, but every time I go to TJ Maxx or Marshalls I look for bottles in different shapes, size and colors and I was surprised of the variety they have, I never paid attention, but they can be really cute!! I got some faux flowers and leaves to put inside and I like the soft green color combined with the white of the mantel.
