Valentine`s day outfit ideas

Good morning my friends and happy Friday!

How are you doing? I don`t know why, but this week flew by, I think it`s because I have been busy adjusting to our new routine without nonni and my husband was away for most of the week in California (he was telling me about the warm temperatures there and I was so jealous!!). I also have been prepping for Valentine`s day helping aurora with her valentines. To my Italian friends: in the US Valentine`s day is kind of a big thing and the kids in schools and daycares celebrate it writing cute little cards to their friends and teachers. In Italy we don`t have this tradition and generally Valentine`s day is meant just for couples. I actually never loved Valentine`s as a day to celebrate, but now I like it a lot, first of all because it is a very good excuse to go out to dinner with my husband (we usually don`t go out on February 14th, but we try to do it some days before or after or if we can`t go out, we cook something special at home!) and also because I like to celebrate it with my kids and prepare little presents and cards for them too. During this week I have also been planning our Valentine`s day brunch, which we will host at our house with some of Aurora`s friends in the weekend. I didn`t plan to have a party for Valentine`s day, but last week Aurora asked me if she could have some friends over to celebrate and I said `why not? So it will be a very last minute and “easy“ party.

This week I wanted to show you three different outfits for Valentine`s day: one will be good if you are celebrating at home or even if you want to go out but you want a very low key,  very causal, comfy look. The second outfit is more elegant for a dinner out or a little party and the third look is still elegant, but not too much. I am showing you clothes that I like and that I would actually wear. There are dresses that I like but can not wear because the fabric is too tight or because their fit is not flattering on me, so if you like my style, I think you will like these outfits too! Let`s see them:

FIRST LOOK: CASUAL AND COMFY

I thought about this look for a low key night at home, when you don`t want to be in your sweatpants, but you don`t really want to dress up. As I was telling you, I usually stay at home on Valenitne`s day and this is something that I would really wear. I think this is the perfect combo. I own these pants and I think they are really comfy and slimming, they are also high waisted, which is something that I am starting to love (being a mom of three, including twins, I have to say that the high waist helps a lot!!). I don`t own the t-shirt, but I saw it at Target a couple weeks ago and I thought it was so cute! Now, let`s talk about this cardigan: if you are looking for something like it, I really suggest you to buy it because it is so nice, soft and comfy (and it is on sale right now!), I have been wearing it almost every day since I got it last week! I love the copper color because it is a little different, but it comes in cream and black too, I like the fact that it is very oversized and that it is really warm. The only thing that I don`t love is that it is polyester and I usually try not to buy sweaters and t-shirts in that material because I sweat a lot and I feel it is not really nice to sweat into something made of polyester, but this cardigan is so oversized that it is not possible to really get in contact with it under the arms!!

SECOND LOOK: ELEGANT FOR A NIGHT OUT

As soon as I saw this little dress on the Zara website I thought it would be perfect for a dinner out on Valentine`s day. I love it because it is pink (of course) and because it is very simple, but yet very special with those bell sleeves, which make it very feminine and elegant. If you are very brave or if you live in a warm place, I saw the perfect pink shoes to wear with it (so cute). If you don`t want to be too pink, you could always wear nude or black pumps. If you, like me, live in a cold place, I think that a pair of thick black tights with pumps or booties or over the knee boots will look very nice (like a 60s look), but you could always wear nude tights and black or nude pumps to go with it.

If you don`t like pink or bold colors, I found this adorable black lace dress on Zara, very Dolce e Gabbana style! You could wear it with black pumps or red or pink pumps if you want to add a touch of bright color.

THIRD LOOK: ELEGANT BUT NOT TOO MUCH

I thought about this final look if you don`t want to wear a skirt or dress, but you still want to be dressy. I think you could wear a normal pair of skinny jeans, I would do black to make the outfit a little more dressy, or if you like them and want a more casual look you could do  distressed jeans, or you can use a pair of regular black pants. I found this blush blouse and I think it is adorable (I love the button detail on the sleeves!), I also love the cream blouse (love the lace detail!) and then you could wear a black blazer if you like them (I don`t particularly love them), or a nice tight long black cardigan or… I found this very cute colorful faux fur coat which I think would look so cute with the jeans and blouse, because the blush stripes would be the same as the blush blouse. It would add some color and fun to the entire outfit! I would wear a pair of black pumps with this look, but if you don`t want heels you could always do ballet flats or boots.

This is it for today, I hope I gave you some ideas and maybe an inspiration to go to your closet and find something similar to the pieces I showed you above! I wish you a nice weekend and I will meet you here next week!
